A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will need to have taken a nursing assistant course and then pass a CNA certification test. If you have maintained good study habits and have passed your required classes, the certification test is not that hard. All of the answers on this test are found by attending CNA courses. Once you have passed this certification test, than you can go to work in a medical health care field as well as continue your studies to higher learning to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) and even further.
The CNA certification test comes in two parts, written and clinical. The written part of your examination usually takes place on the last day of your course. Sometimes it is scheduled at a later date. Either way, you clinical exam cannot be taken until you pass your written exam.
What is included in the written exam? Everything you have learned attending CNA classes. This includes basic patient care giving and medical models. Once you have passed the basic written exam than you can take on the clinical aspect of the CNA certification test.
While attending CNA courses, you learned how to take care of the patient in all corners of nursing care. The clinical part of the CNA certification test is no different. It is more complicated than the written exam and requires three to five theories you have already learned in a class setting.
Some of the clinical aspects requested during this exam will be hand washing techniques, positioning a patient, preserving a patient’s dignity, changing bedpans and much more. A state approved medical examiner will monitor you and usually this test will be scheduled separate from the written exam.
Once your clinical examination is completed, you will learn immediately whether you passed or failed. Prior to your CNA certification test, you may want to take a practice exam. You can do some of this online but the final exam will have to be taken off line.
You can take the written certification test at the school you took your courses and then will need to take the clinical portion that has been set up by your school or facility. Choose a school that is certified to provide you with the CNA courses and exam.
There are some sites online where you just may take a practice exam and it won’t cost you a penny. If you cannot find one, then there are additional sites which will offer this practice exam at an affordable price.
The CNA certification test is not hard if you have taken the necessary CNA courses. You should be able to pass the two part exam and be well on your way to a highly demanding career which will reward you by offering you to expand your education and working towards a RN degree that will offer more money and more prestige. Nurses are in high demand so you should be able to find a job that will meet your expectations.
